Dr Scott Charlton, Ipswich Chiropractor
Ipswich Chiropractor Dr Scott Charlton is the founder and principal of Booval Chiropractic. He is passionate about improving the health of the Ipswich community to allow all to enjoy life with less pain, better function and well-being. It is what drives him!
Dr Charlton holds four degrees, including a Bachelor of Laws (1st Class Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Comp Med) and Master of Clinical Chiropractic from RMIT University in Melbourne. He regularly attends professional development seminars, conferences and the like in Australia and internationally to stay current on research and current thinking to best assist his patients.
Dr Charlton is a current national clinical advisor in Chiropractic to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). He is also a past non-executive director of the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia (National), where he chaired the Tertiary Education and Research Committee and was a member of the Audit and Risk Committee for many years. He is also a past director and president of the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia (QLD). He is the current national representative to the Department of Veterans Affairs for Chiropractic, a responsibility he takes very seriously.
Further, Ipswich Chiropractor Dr Charlton is a current non-executive director and member of the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FRAC) and Accreditation Committee of the Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA), the body responsible for accrediting Chiropractic courses in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
He has also been appointed recently to the Professional Services Review Determining Authority, assisting in safeguarding the integrity of Medicare. Dr Charlton is also an experienced medico-legal consultant, providing expert opinion in cases involving Chiropractors to law firms, insurers and AHPRA in multiple jurisdictions and the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) in NSW.
Dr Charlton is an approved person for panels and sits as a professional member and chair in Queensland on the Performance and Professional Standards Panel (PPSP), assisting the Chiropractic Board of Australia in disciplinary cases involving Chiropractors. He also provides expert input as an educational consultant to firms that produce education to help chiropractors with conditions imposed on their registration by the regulator. He is a second-generation Chiropractor and one of 6 in his family.
He is excited to be pioneering CBP® and Spinal Rehabilitation in Ipswich, QLD. He has spent years learning and applying CBP protocols. He regularly attends clinical practice seminars and conferences to further his knowledge and understanding of Chiropractic, including visits to the United States for training with expert and experienced CBP practitioners. He travels interstate and internationally to represent and advocate for the profession globally. He recently had the honour of presenting at the World Federation of Chiropractic Assembly in Washington DC, providing a report for the Pacific region, and to a significant research conference DC2017 also in Washington, where he presented in the Research funding forum. This followed a trip to Shanghai, China, in late 2016, again representing the CAA National.
