If you are suffering from neck, low back pain, headaches or sciatica our experienced Chiropractors will determine the best techniques to help restore your normal, pain-free movement. We will discuss with you the benefits of each technique and involve you in the decision as to which one will be best for you. The secret is knowing which to choose, and that’s where our professional chiropractic team excels.

In our office we use a variety of different techniques including manual adjustments, drop-table adjustments, activator and Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) blocking. Each technique can be used alone or in conjunction with each other to restore normal movement and function to the spine to achieve the best results for you.

How we choose the ideal chiropractic technique.

All these techniques are extremely effective however some patients may prefer one technique or another and, in some cases, one technique can be safer for a specific type of patient or problem.

After reviewing your history, examination findings, x-ray findings and discussing with you what kind of adjustments you would prefer, we will recommend the technique or combination of techniques that is best suited to you.

We will take into consideration any good or bad experiences you have had in the past with different chiropractic techniques.

Let’s take a look at the techniques.

Drop Table Technique

Drop Table technique is a chiropractic method that utilises a specifically designed adjusting table that has different sections which lift and drop under your body. A section is slightly raised beneath the joint. Your chiropractor then applies a gentle thrust to the joint which causes the table to drop back, and helps ease the joint into position.

This special table allows your chiropractor to minimise the force used for the adjustment. It also avoids the twisting positions that can accompany some other techniques, making it a very safe technique to use.

There are a variety of different gentle adjustments that can be done using these drop tables.

SOT

SOT (Sacro Occipital Technique) is a chiropractic technique that uses wedged shaped blocks placed under the pelvis to help normalise the alignment of the pelvis, the spine and the occiput (base of the skull). These are important centres of the nervous system, and the SOT technique helps restore normal function, opening up the pathways to communication between the brain and the body.

It is a gentle technique that relies on gravity and the body’s own weight to adjust itself. Because it’s so gentle, the technique Is suitable even for pregnant women.

Activator Technique

The Activator technique requires the use of a special instrument. It is a handheld, spring-loaded tool that delivers a gentle but precise, high-speed force to the vertebrae to restore the normal function to the spine. It is the most widely-used instrument in chiropractic due to its effectiveness and gentle nature.

The Activator technique is research-supported, safe and highly effective. It is ideal for babies, young children, patients with conditions such as osteoporosis arthritis, or those patients where manual adjustment are contraindicated or they choose not to be manually adjusted.

Other Techniques that may be used.

In addition to chiropractic adjustments, our chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including muscle stretching procedures, soft tissue therapy, exercise recommendations as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.
